Burger King in Cornmarket has reopened for customers but it may not be for long as the restaurant is being marketed to let.
In August last year the fast food chain said it was quitting the city centre because it could no longer afford the rent being charged on its restaurant.
But the burger bar has now reopened for the time being.
When the Oxford Mail visited last week staff were serving food but the stairs to the upstairs seating area were taped off.

The fast food company's departure last year ended a decades-long presence in the city centre and left Oxford with just one other branch, at the Cowley Retail Park.
A 'To Let' sign on the restaurant is still inviting prospective new tenants to call chartered surveyors and commercial property agents AG&G.
The Covent Garden-based agency works with some of the biggest restaurant and pub chains, including Nandos, Five Guys, Fullers, Green King and Pizza Express.
A member of staff at AG&G said Burger King was still the current tenant and confirmed it was marketing the property.
Burger King has declined to say how long it will remain open for.
A spokeswoman said: "Burger King will not be commenting at this time."

Jesus College, the landlord of the property, has been contacted for comment.
With Five Guys and McDonald's nearby, Burger King has lots of competition from rival chains.
And American fast food chain Wendy's has proved popular since it opened earlier this month in Magdalen Street.
