Windrush CE Primary School is the first new primary school in Witney for almost 20 years.
It opened for its first reception year and nursery children at the start of September.
The school will serve the new developments of Windrush Place and Colwell Green in the west of the town.
When full, it will have capacity for 315 pupils aged four to 11, plus 30 places in nursery for children aged two to four.
The school is operated by Oxfordshire-based multi-academy trust River Learning Trust (RLT) and the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education (ODBE).
RLT operates three other primary schools in the town – Madley Brook, Witney Community and Tower Hill.
It also runs Edith Moorhouse in Carterton and Charlbury Primary School.
Its secondary schools include Chipping Norton and The Marlborough in Woodstock.
Windrush CE Primary School is the first to open in Witney since Madley Community Primary School opened in September 2003.
That school provides mainstream education for pupils on the Madley Park estate on the eastern side of town.
Windrush is the fourth Church of England school in Witney.
The other CofE schools in the town are The Batt, The Blake and St Mary’s.
