A RAPIST has been sentenced to nine years in prison after which he will be deported.
Andre Thompson, 35, formerly of Thornbury Road, Eynsham, was found guilty of rape by unanimous verdict at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday.
He will be immediately deported to Jamaica after his release from prison.
The court heard that on February 13, this year, Thompson raped a woman that he knew and who did not give her consent to him.
Then, the court was told that on February 26, Thompson let himself into his victim’s house while she was asleep. She woke to find him in her room.
After telling him to leave, she then reported both incidents to the police.
Thompson was charged with the offence on March 1.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Oliver Harrison, based at Banbury Police Station, said: “This was an absolutely abhorrent offence which took place at the victim’s home, where she has a right to feel safe.
“Thompson targeted the victim at a time when she was vulnerable. He is a dangerous predator and our communities are safer now that he has been sentenced to prison.
“The victim in this case has shown incredible bravery throughout the distressing process of a police investigation and subsequent trial, and I would like to thank her for this.
“I hope that this conviction shows that we will always investigate offences such as these and that we will always seek to bring dangerous criminals like Thompson to justice.”
