Extinction Rebellion activists from Spain are currently gathering outside shops in Summertown as they prepare to March to Glasgow in time for COP26 on November 1.
The eco campaigners, holding flags, are banging drums.
Extinction Rebellion Oxford said a group of "nine brave rebels from Zaragoza" will cover an average of 20 miles a day for 29 days.
One protester said: “We believe it’s our duty to make this small symbolic sacrifice if it can help raise awareness about all that is at stake in Glasgow. It is our future that is on the line.”
The marchers, who started their journey in Portsmouth, arrived in Oxford yesterday evening and were setting off from outside the Co-op this morning.
XR Oxford said: "Please join us for a rousing send-off with speeches, samba, banners and song."
They asked supporters to accompany them for part of their onward journey across the county to Adderbury.
On Friday, the group will march through Banbury as they head towards Coventry.
Organisers say the route of the march has been "carefully designed to maximise visibility" near roads to make sure they are seen by as many people as possible.
