Oxford taxi drivers are furious over Uber’s new pilot relationship with 001 Oxford which enables passengers to book a trip with a local taxi company via the Uber app.
Today at 2pm protesters will gather outside Oxford Town Hall to oppose the pilot scheme.
Protest organisers say Uber has managed to slip through the back door and is now available in Oxford, even though the app has never been granted an operating license.

Taxi drivers are concerned that this scheme will put the livelihoods of many local drivers at stake and say it has the potential to exclude other businesses.
More than 200 Hackney and private hire drivers are expected to attend the protest, as well as supporting councilors.
