Citizens Advice West Oxfordshire is in serious need of volunteers from all kinds of backgrounds to support local people with their problems.

The charity is supported by 50 trained volunteers and 27 paid staff and last year helped 7,260 people across West Oxfordshire with 19,850 issues.

These might include debt, housing, benefit and employment problems.

Volunteers need to be able to contribute between seven and eight hours per week, which be in the local office, working with a community partner or working from home.

Lynne, who has volunteered for a number of years, said: “What a massive need there is for this charity, what incredible support the advisers give and how much the public appreciate the help.”

No experience necessary as full training will be provided.

Teresa Archer, chief officer at Citizens Advice West Oxfordshire, added: “Our wonderful volunteers are the heart of our service - the work we do to support people in the community simply would not be possible without them.

“As a volunteer, you’ll learn about a range of issues affecting local people, like debt, housing, benefits and employment. It’s a challenging but highly rewarding role. If you’re keen to build on your skills and do something that really makes a difference, we’d love to hear from you.”

The charity is looking for a volunteer who enjoys administrative work to help their chief officer; volunteers to help with advice as part of the new Benefits in Place service; and volunteers to support the Telephone Adviceline Service, Administrative and Client Support and Training and Recruitment Support.
