THERE are 264 new Covid-19 cases registered in Oxfordshire in the last 24 hours and zero deaths, according to the latest Government figures.

The rate of infection in Oxford as of 4pm on Tuesday stands at 247.5 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 294.7.

These are the latest cases separated by local authority:

  • Oxford – 54
  • South Oxfordshire – 57
  • Cherwell – 54
  • West Oxfordshire – 50
  • Vale of White Horse – 49

The total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic started are:

  • Oxford – 14,432
  • Oxfordshire – 49,823

The UK has recorded a further 170 Covid-related deaths and 26,852 new cases, according to Government data.

Cases identified through a positive lateral flow test – those which can deliver results within half an hour – will no longer be counted if the person then takes a PCR test, which is sent to a lab to be checked, and receives a negative result within three days.

Across the UK 89.6 per cent of people have received their first jab, and 77.2 per cent have received their second dose of the Covid vaccine.
