YESTERDAY evening the first flight of evacuated personnel from Afghanistan arrived in Oxfordshire.
The plane carrying British Embassy staff as well as British Citizens landed in RAF Brize Norton, near Carterton late last night after the Taliban took control of Kabul.
Photos released today by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) show UK military personnel prior to boarding an RAF Voyager aircraft at RAF on Saturday after news broke that the Taliban were surrounding the capital.
The Taliban gained control of Kabul on Sunday.
British troops are now working around the clock to ensure that UK nationals and their local allies escape the country.
Last night the first flight of British nationals arrived at Brize Norton - more flights are expected over the coming days.

Boris Johnson will chair a third Cobra meeting over the worsening situation in Afghanistan as No 10 pledged to continue to evacuate people from the country for as long as it is safe to do so.
His official spokesman said the UK will continue the evacuation effort for “as long as we are able to do so and as long as it is safe to do so”.
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, who served in the Scots Guards, appeared to choke up as he spoke of his regret that “some people won’t get back”.
Speaking on LBC, Mr Wallace said: “It’s a really deep part of regret for me… look, some people won’t get back. Some people won’t get back and we will have to do our best in third countries to process those people.”
