Jericho’s Mount Place was once again busy for the area's first art fair.

About 150 people attended on Saturday, with 15 artists exhibiting and selling, and there were three bands playing on a moored canal boat.

The event followed the success of last month's book fair in the same location.

So tempting was the sound of music that a female trumpeter, sailing past on her boat, joined in with the jazz band Bossa Nouveau for one number and later for their encore.

Spectators watched from the canal bridge and the other bank of the Oxford canal.

Local musical entrepreneur Stuart Miller, his sound man Ryan Quarterman and Towpath Productions were thanked by organisers for the music as was Moonaroon, who performed on the boat. College Cruisers loaned the mooring.

Organiser of the event John Mair said: "Storms and heavy rain were forecast - nothing came but a light drizzle and much pleasure.

"The audience enjoyed it very much - so too did the artists who did a healthy trade all afternoon."

Mount Place will host another public event - Lazy Sunday - on Sunday September 5 from noon to 5pm, with more music, more art for sale and more.
