A TOWN square is set to be transformed into a garden for the duration of the summer in Didcot's first ever 'garden party'.

The square outside Cornerstone Arts Centre will be transformed into a garden with AstroTurf grass, beanbags, deckchairs and other relaxing seating for visitors to come along, chill out, take part in activities or just soak up the party atmosphere.

A wide range of fun summer events for all ages are taking place from July 24 and every weekend all the way through the school holidays.

The party will start every Saturday at 11am until September 4, and each weekend has a different theme packed with a range of fun, interactive and engaging entertainment. Among the activities set to launch the garden party over the weekend will be a range of outdoor games, an exciting puppet show, a comedy club for children, a performance of The Three Musketeers and a bunting workshop.

The other locations South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils will be taking the party to over the summer include Edmunds Park, Boundary Park and Ladygrove.

Councillor Judy Roberts said: “As part of the events taking place over the coming weeks, we want to showcase the sustainability hopes for Didcot Garden Town and how that will become a part of all our lives to protect our climate and local surroundings. Many of the events that residents can take part in will highlight how we can all be active, creative and innovative with sustainability at the heart of what we do.”
