MAINTENANCE work will soon begin on a major road in Oxford that is set to last up to five weeks.

Phased full closures will take place on Banbury Road as works begin on Monday, July 26,  between Diamond Place and Cunliffe Close.

The arterial road runs from St Giles' at the south end, north towards Banbury through the leafy suburb of North Oxford and Summertown.

Oxfordshire County Council's carriageway maintenance work will include replacing damaged kerbs and ironwork, drainage repairs, resurfacing of the existing carriageway and the replacement of road markings.

Tthe work will be done in the following phases to enable these activities to be carried out safely:

Phase 1: Monday, July 26, to Friday, August 6, from 8pm until 6am – temporary traffic signals to allow preparation work to be carried out, including replacing damaged kerbs and ironwork and drainage repairs

Phase 2: Monday, August 9, to Friday, August 13, from 8pm until 6am – full road closure from Diamond Place to Marston Ferry Road to allow for resurfacing work and replacement of road markings.

A signed diversion route will be put in place during this period.

Phase 3: Monday, August 16, to Wednesday, August 25,from 8pm ntil 6am – full road closure from Marston Ferry Road to Cunliffe Close to allow for resurfacing work to be and replacement of road markings.

A signed diversion route will be put in place during this period.

Banbury Road will be reopened to traffic when safe to do so outside of these periods.
