POLICE are looking for witnesses after two men were stabbed last night.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after two men suffered stab wounds following a 'large-scale disorder' in Horspath.

At just before 9.40pm last night officers were called to The Chequers Inn, The Green, following reports of a fight in progress involving a group of approximately 15 people.

During the fight, two men, aged 20 and 23, suffered stab wounds and were taken to hospital for treatment.

One of the men has since been discharged, but the other remains in hospital with serious injuries.

Three women, aged 50, 54 and 19 and one man, aged 51, have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and violent disorder and all remain in police custody at this time.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Horsburgh said: “This was a large-scale disorder which occurred in the village at around 9.40pm last night.

“As a result of calls to police, officers responded and made several arrests at the scene.

“There are reports that vehicles were potentially being driven at the victims, and two people were taken to hospital.

“A scene-watch remains in place in the area and road closures have been put in place while the investigation continues.

“I am appealing to anybody who was in the area of The Green, Horspath, last night, who witnessed this incident to please make contact with Thames Valley Police.

“I would be particularly keen to hear from anybody who may have captured any of the incident on mobile phone cameras or dash-cam to please contact us.

“I would like to re-assure the local community that although this was a large-scale disorder, our officers responded very quickly and arrested four individuals.

“We believe at this early stage that the victims and offenders are known to each other and although we currently have a scene-watch in place, there is not a wider threat to the local community.

Eyewitnesses said the incident was caused by 'two feuding traveller families'.
