Oxford City Council has asked 18-29 year-olds to get tested for the virus in a bid to curb the high spread of cases in the city.
This comes as official Government figures show that two deaths and 360 new coronavirus cases were registered in the county, with more than a third of new cases in Oxford.
In a post on Facebook the council said: “Cases are really high in the city, and we need to stop the spread of COVID while we wait for the impact of the vaccines to catch up.”

Cases in Oxford City are now in the top ten in the entire country - compared to a rate of 56.4 per 100,000 on June 4. 80% of cases are currently in the 18-29 age group.
No appointment is needed at any of the three mobile PCR testing units and each site is open between 10am and 8pm.
Where to get a test:
- South Park (St Clement’s end)
- Outside the Blavatnik School of Government on Walton Street
- Manzil Way Gardens, Cowley Road
Oxford Brookes and Osney Lane testing centres are also open every day from 8am to 8pm, but you’ll need to book an appointment first.
