A familiar figure from history made a return to Oxfordshire this weekend, after nearly 400 years away.
History buff Daniel Williams paid a visit to Rycote Chapel in Thame dressed as King Charles I.
The 48-year-old is a professional King Charles I impersonator, and wanted to recreate the royal's "many visits" to the county.
He said: "The first was in 1625 and several times when the plague was in London, moving his Parliament to Oxford whilst staying at Rycote Mansion, the great Tudor palace which sadly no longer exists.
"Later, he made more visits during the English Civil War."
Mr Williams, from the West Midlands, runs 'King Charles I Return', where he travels around the UK as the royal to highlight "the great heritage associated with King Charles".
The historical impersonator has brought his incarnation of King Charles to Oxfordshire on multiple occasions, during a trip to Christchurch Cathedral and at the Bodleian Libraries.
