A NEW public health chief has been installed at Oxfordshire County Council, after the previous one stood down due to a complaint.
The new cabinet member for public health and equalities will be Mark Lygo, the Labour county councillor for Marston and Northway in Oxford.
He joined the Oxfordshire Fair Deal Alliance’s Cabinet just before its first formal meeting on Tuesday, June 22, replacing Damian Haywood, who stood down last week.
He said: “Clearly the role of cabinet member for public health is very important one at any time but all the more so when we are still in the midst of a pandemic. Equality and helping shape resilient communities in co-operation with partner agencies are also major priorities for the new administration and will be central to my new role.
“I am looking forward to embarking on this interesting and challenging role.”

Mr Lygo is also an Oxford City Councillor and the current Lord Mayor of Oxford.
In his role as Lord Mayor he is running a fitness and activity campaign called Move with Mayor Mark.
His predecessor Mr Haywood stood down from the role at the end of last week because a complaint had been made against him.
He has said he plans to comment publicly on his reason for standing down once the complaint has been resolved.
