PATIENTS of an Oxfordshire medical practice paid tributes to a 'wonderful' GP of 17 years.
The Unity Health Centre on East Street in Thame confirmed it is now actively recruiting for a new GP after Dr James Weir announced his departure from the practice.
A spokesperson for Unity Health said that he has been an 'invaluable' part of partnership and that he will be missed as a artner, a colleague and a GP.
The sentiment was shared by a number of patients who praised the doctor for his service.

One patient Beth Bennett said: "Very sad news that Dr Weir will be leaving Unity Health.
"He has been wonderful with my whole family including my mother when she moved down here, and my sister's family and children too.
"Dr Weir always treated his patients with kindness, compassion and integrity and I know he will be hugely missed by all his patients and his colleagues in Unity Health too.
"I wish him all the very best for the future, wherever that will lead him.
In a statement to patients and colleagues, Dr Weir said: "After long and deep consideration, I have made the difficult decision to leave the partnership at Unity Health.
"My last working day at Unity will be the November 10.
"For more than 17 years I have been incredibly fortunate to work with such wonderful people - not only in Thame, but across the whole practice.

"I have always felt greatly valued in Thame by both patients and the team, and my decision has not been taken lightly.
"I have reflected on the future direction of my career as a GP and I will be considering what opportunities there might be for me in other roles.
"Although I have not yet made any future plans, I will continue to work in the NHS and remain committed to our local community."
In addition, he thanked his colleagues for their support and the patients and their families who have allowed him the privilege of being their doctor over many years'.
