A PENSIONER was tricked into thinking staff from a water company were visiting her house.
The incident happened between 3.15pm and 3.30pm on Wednesday when the victim, a woman in her 80s, was at home on Glebe Road, Cumnor, when a man knocked on her door.

He claimed he was from a water company and needed to check her water pressure.
He entered the house and requested that she go outside to test the taps, but when she returned she found two further men inside her property.
She began to get suspicious and asked them to leave which they did.
No items were taken.
The man who knocked at the door was described as white, in his 40s with a stocky build and around 5ft 8in tall. He had dark brown combed back hair and was wearing a blue face mask.
One of the other men who entered the property after him was white and in his late 20s or early 30s and around 5ft 10in tall with a slim build.

The other man was also white and older, he had greying short hair and was also of a slim build.
Thames Valley Police is now appealing for witnesses following the distraction burglary.
Investigating officer Melissa Fletcher, based at Abingdon police station said: “I am appealing for any witnesses who saw the men matching this description in the area at the time, or had similar visits to their properties, to please get in touch.

Remember to ask to see ID if people are visiting your property claiming they are there for any form of maintenance works. If you are unsure of who they are, don’t let them in and contact the company to check.
