Scores on the doors reveals the latest food hygiene ratings for restaurants and takeaways and these are some of the best and worst ratings.
These scores are from the latest inspections by Oxfordshire councils' hygiene teams, correct as of June 2, 2021.
What do the numbers mean?
0 - urgent improvement necessary
1 - major improvements necessary
2 - improvements necessary
3 - business generally satisfactory
4 - business good on assessment
5 - business seen as very good
Each restaurant is also judged on three categories ‘food hygiene and safety’, ‘structural compliance’ and ‘confidence in management’. Each section is awarded a mark from ‘very good’ to ‘very bad’ and for ‘confidence in management’ from ‘high’ to ‘no confidence’.
One star
- Brasileiro on 176 Cowley Road scored one star after its hygiene inspection on March 23.
The Oxford supermarket was marked ‘good’ for its overall food hygiene and safety, ‘very good’ for structural compliance and the condition of the building, however, the store only scored ‘little’ for the category confidence in management.
Two stars
- The Woodstock Arms on 6-8 Market Street, Woodstock scored two stars in its latest food hygiene inspection on March 25.
The pub was marked ‘fair’ for its food hygiene and safety, ‘poor’ for its structural compliance and ‘some’ for the category confidence in management.
Three stars
- ItaliAmo on 22 Broad Street, Oxford scored three stars in its latest food hygiene inspection on April 9.
The restaurant was marked ‘fair’ for its food hygiene and safety, ‘fair’ for structural compliance and ‘some’ for confidence in management.
- Babboo Korean restaurant on 86 St Clement’s Street in Oxford scored three stars in its inspection on April 27.
The restaurant was given a mark of ‘fair’ for food hygiene and safety, ‘fair’ for structural compliance and ‘some’ for confidence in management.

Four stars
- Sandwich De Witney on 48 Market Square in Witney scored four stars in its latest food hygiene inspection on April 9. The sandwich takeaway was given ‘good’ for food hygiene and structural compliance but only a ‘some’ for the category confidence in management.
Five stars
- Sasi’s Thai in 32 Covered Market in oxford scored ‘good’ all round for its most recent food hygiene inspection on May 18 and bagged a five-star hygiene rating.
