A VILLAGE is buzzing with excitement after rumours emerged that Take That star Gary Barlow had bought a house nearby.

Last night the singer, was believed to have bought a property in the West Oxfordshire village of Alvescot.

The multi-millionaire father-of-two was reported to have been drinking in the village's only pub, The Plough, but bar staff wouldn't confirm the rumour.

The news follows rumours that fellow pop star Kylie Minogue was also planning to move to the county.

Residents in Upton, near Didcot, have been talking of little else since it emerged the Australian popstress was looking for a property in the village last month.

The former Neighbours star denied she was moving to the village, but residents claimed she had been spotted in the village pub, The George & Dragon.

Other celebrities to settle in Oxfordshire include film star Helena Bonham Carter and her film director husband Tim Burton, who live in Sutton Courtenay.

Pop star George Michael bought a £1.6m cottage in Goring in 1999 while Titanic star Kate Winslet is believed to own property in Boars Hill, near Oxford.
