Scores of pensioners flocked to the box office last week for the city's first Golden Years Film Festival.
The week-long season of Christmas feel-good movies was staged to give Oxford's over-60s an early festive treat.
The Sheriff of Oxford, Mary Clarkson, who opened the event, said the festival had been a great success. She said: "It is such a lovely idea for Christmas."
The festival, organised by the Oxford Mail and the Phoenix Picturehouse in Walton Street, drew crowds of senior citizens.
Hundreds enjoyed free mince pies, tea, coffee and the chance to see many of their favourite yuletide movies, including White Christmas and It's A Wonderful Life, presented on the silver screen at their local cinema.
