Police made seven arrests after a group of youths were caught armed with weapons in a fight.
Thames Valley Police has authorised a Section 60 order following the incident in Desborough Road, Rosehill.
At around 8.50pm on Wednesday a group of youths were caught in an altercation and armed with weapons.
Seven arrests were made in connection with the incident.
They have been arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon and are currently in custody.
As a result of this incident, a Section 60 order has been authorised covering the Oxford local policing area.
The order is in place until 11pm today, it will then be reviewed and an extension considered if deemed necessary.
Inspector Lyndon Barret, based at Cowley police station, said: “Following this incident, a Section 60 order has been authorised in Oxford, which gives officers more powers with regards to stop and search.
“The purpose of this order is to reduce the risk of further violence taking place.
“Members of the public might see an increased police presence in the area during this time.
“Anyone with information about this incident is asked to make a report online, quoting reference 43210216835, or by calling 101.”
