TWO men escaped with £600 after robbing a Co-op store in Didcot.

The first man jumped over the counter at the store in Lostock Place at 5.30pm yesterday and told a member of staff to open the tills.

He took £600 in cash and put it into a Co-op carrier bag while another man stood near to the front of the shop, keeping a look out.

The second man threatened the customers and told them not to use their mobile phones.

The man who stole the cash noticed someone in the shop on their phone, grabbed a bottle of whisky and both men left.

The first man was about 25, about 5ft 10in tall, with short dark hair. He was wearing a thigh-length black Stone Island jacket with eight buttons down the front. He was also wearing a black hat under a hood and white trainers.

The second man was about 25 and of heavy build. He was wearing a bright red fleece-type jacket, with the collar pulled up over the lower part of his face, dark tracksuit bottoms with two vertical white stripes down each leg and a dark beanie style hat.

Det Con Ian Leese said, "There were three members of staff in the shop at the time and two customers. The people were left shocked but luckily no one was injured.

"I hope that someone may have seen these two men and have information that can help us with our enquiries.

"I urge anyone who may have seen these men before or after the incident or anything suspicious in the area at the time, to contact the police."

Anyone with any information should contact Det Con Leese at Didcot police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you do not want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
