The bodies of a rabbit, nine baby rabbits and two puppies were found in a plastic carrier bag thrown into an Oxfordshire garden.
The decomposing remains were left in a plastic supermarket bag in a garden in Berinsfield, just days after another rabbit was found decapitated a few yards away.
RSPCA inspector Doug Davidson said how the animals died and why they ended up in the carrier bag were a mystery.
He said: "They were all in the one bag. It was a bit of a gory find.
"The adult rabbit was white and the puppies were difficult to tell, because they were so young, but they were a dark brown colour.
"It's a rather unusual scenario. It was difficult to tell how they died - it was pretty much a gory mess.
"The umbilical cords were still attached."
Mr Davidson said a woman found the remains in the bag in a corner of her garden, in Evenlode Drive, after returning from a few days' holiday last Friday.
He said: "She was quite shocked by it. About a week before, in the same area, there was another white rabbit found in a garden with its head missing. There must be some connection."
