ALL Conservative candidates have held their seats in the Cherwell district and the party therefore remains in control of the council.
One third of seats in the Cherwell district were contested this year.
There are three seats in each of the 16 district wards, but with elections being held by thirds, just one seat in each ward is due for election three years out of four.
Usually the year without district elections is the year of county council elections, but the cycle was affected by the postponement of the 2020 elections due to the pandemic.
In Banbury there are 15 district councillors representing five wards, while in Bicester there are 12 district councillors representing four wards.
In Kidlington there are six district councillors representing two wards and across the rural areas there are five wards and 15 district councillors.
All wards had elections this year and all Conservatives held their 12 seats.

Bicester East - Sandy Lewis Dallimore, Conservative with 1,134 votes
Banbury Grimsbury and Hightown - Andrew Gerald Beere , Labour and Co-operative Party with 1,091 votes
Bicester North and Caversfield - Lynn Mary Pratt, Conservative with 1,108 votes
Bicester South and Ambrosden - Dan Sames, Conservative with 1,374 votes
Bicester West - Les Sibley, Independent with 1,542 votes
Cropredy, Sibfords and Wroxton - George Reynolds, Conservative with 1,995 votes
Fringford and Heyfords - Patrick James Clarke, Conservative with 1,662 votes
Deddington - Bryn Williams - Conservative with 1,855 votes
Kidlington East: Maurice Billington - Conservative with 1,524 votes
Launton and Otmoor - Simon Holland - Conservative with 1,407 votes
Kidlington West - Dorothy Walker - Liberal Democrat with 1,638 votes
Following the close of polls at 10pm on Thursday, the verification process began at 9.30am on Friday into the early evening.
On Thursday night, ballot boxes from across the district were brought to Spiceball Leisure Centre in Banbury where they were registered and checked against the paperwork.
The count yesterday involved six teams of five counters. Each team was headed by one supervisor and one assistant supervisor.
