A man has been arrested for dangerous driving following a crash involving a cyclist in Banbury.

Police and paramedics were called to Bloxham Road in the town early today following a collision between the cyclist and a car.

The 74-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital and is in a serious condition.

Police closed the A361 Bloxham Road both ways, between the Waller Drive junction and the Wykham Lane junction, following the accident shortly after 6am.

Toby Shergold, a spokesman for Oxford Police, said a 45-year-old man was being questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving.
