A MILKSHAKE and smoothy bar with more than 200 flavours has scored top marks in its latest food hygiene inspection.
Moo-Moo’s is located in the historic Covered Market in Oxford city centre.
The independent family business first opened in 2006 and now is visited by flocks of tourists on their trips to the city.
The bar has been awarded a score of five by Oxford City Council hygiene inspectors.
On April 16, the business scored ‘Good’ in the categories ‘Food Hygiene and Safety’ and ‘Structural Compliance’ and scored ‘High’ in the category ‘Confidence in Management’.
Owner of Moo- Moo’s Bina Vadher-Lowe said she was ‘thrilled’ to get five stars.
Ms Vadher-Lowe explained that the milkshake bar has always done well in its hygiene inspections and usually gets five stars.
The business owner pays attention to food hygiene ratings especially when she goes out to eat. She said: “We take into account other people’s ratings: because it is so important to us, we feel with hygiene standards, it should be important to everybody.”

Ms Vadher-Lowe is also aware of the hygiene standards of where she buys her produce.
She said: “When we have to buy produce we are always aware of places that use masks, have sanitisers around and gloves.
“Our staff might as well have hazmat suits on.”
Moo-Moo’s is a weather dependent business and Ms Vadher-Lowe explained that, now the shops are back open, more people are in the city and buying milkshakes.
She said: “Warm weather is good for us, anytime it is warm we are rushed off our feet.”
The pandemic has hit many small business hard, but Ms Vadher-Lowe is happy to back and open again.
She said: “I think it has been a struggle for all the small independents, it is a struggle for everybody, but definitely places in the Covered Market have really suffered. It is so nice to see people coming back with care.”
She added: “We are glad to be back open and glad to be in business again.”
Ms Vadher-Lowe has given Moo-Moo’s online presence a bit of a boost. She said: “We have just updated our website we are on Instagram and Facebook now. When we first opened word of mouth worked well for us, but we have had to step into the 21st century.”
Although the milkshake bar is on Instagram, Moo-Moo’s is not on delivery apps such as JustEat and Deliveroo, as the owner wants her customers to be able to enjoy the milkshakes at their highest standard ‘ice-cold and thick’.
With more than 200 flavours, Moo-Moo’s offers customers milkshake tastes from a variety of different chocolate bars, biscuits, cereal, cakes, sweets, fruit and syrups and also has a selection of fruit smoothies.
The milkshake bar can be found at 34-35 in the Covered Market.
