OXFORD has topped a national drive to reduce the amount of chewing gum littering the streets.
The city saw an 86 per cent drop in gum on the streets in a four-week nationwide campaign in August and September.
Streets were cleansed of chewing gum litter before and after the campaigns so accurate counts of used chewing gum litter could be taken for the survey.
The campaign was organised by Defra and the Chewing Gum Action Group.
