Hundreds of people packed a secluded North Oxford street for a special traditional Christmas shopping event.

It was the second North Parade Street Fair, and the traders who organised the event estimated around 400 happy shoppers went along.

As well as festive bargains, there were carols, a brass band, roasted chestnuts, mince pies and mulled wine and other entertainment.

Steve Jebbett, of Town Garden in North Parade and the organiser of last Thursday's event, said: "It was fantastic. Lots of people were here and there was a great buzz. We got lots of comments on it being a very Victorian, Dickensian Christmas and it was fabulous. It was just a great evening."
