A TEENAGER has been charged with burgling a family living in a caravan since the July floods.
Benjamin Leach, 18, from Caldecott Chase, Abingdon, faces charges of burglary, aggravated taking of a motor vehicle without consent, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without insurance.
The charges relate to an incident in the early hours of Saturday, December 1, when someone entered a caravan in Chaunterell Way in the town, taking two mobile phones, wallets containing £300 and car keys, then driving off with a red Rover - which was later reported to police as abandoned.
Caroline and Mark Northcott and two of their children had been using the caravan in their front garden since their home was devastated by floods.
Leach was charged with the offences on Tuesday, December 18, and was released on bail to appear before magistrates at Didcot on Monday, January 7.
Det Con Rob Underhill said: "We believe that someone else may have been involved in the burglary and would like to re-appeal to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area during the night of 30 November to 1 December in Chaunterell Way."
Anyone with any information should contact Det Con Underhill at Abingdon police station via 08458 505505, or if you do not want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555111.
