POLICE have been giving out forensic equipment after a spate of shed burglaries.
Writing on Twitter, officers in the South Oxon and Vale of White Horse team said: "Abingdon neighbourhood team have begun a roll-out of Smartwater to residents of North Hinksey Lane as part of ongoing efforts to deter further offences following a spate of Burglary’s to sheds & outbuildings.
"PCSO Horner planned the operation, aptly named ‘Op Mower’.
"PCSOs Haynes & Atkins assisted by visiting the residents to explain how it works and how it can reduce opportunities for criminals.
"The Smartwater was funded by @WhiteHorseDC Community Safety Partnership. Hopefully North Hinksey Lane can become a Smartwater Street."
Smartwater is a forensic liquid that assigns valuables with their own unique forensic code.
This means they can be traced back to the owners and criminals back to the crime.
The solution is designed to be permanent and cannot be removed.
