The Golden Compass, parts of which were filmed in Oxford, is the top-selling black market DVD this Christmas.
It is understood tens of thousands of illegal copies of the film, which stars Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman, and is based on the best-selling novel Northern Lights by Cumnor author Philip Pullman have been sold by street and market traders.
More copies of the DVD have been seized by the Federation Against Copyright Theft than of any other film.
