LAST YEAR festivals were wiped out by coronavirus with most events moving online instead.

But with social distancing set to be scrapped by June 21 in the government's road map out of lockdown, festival organisers are more optimistic that events will go ahead this year.

Here are the Oxfordshire festivals that could still be going ahead in 2021:

Truck

Oxford Mail:

The organisers of the biggest rock festival have vowed to carry on with this year’s event and have unveiled the headline acts.

Truck will go ahead at Hill Farm, Steventon, near Didcot, from July 22-25 and will be headlined by Bombay Bicycle Club, The Kooks and Royal Blood. And tickets have already sold out.

Foodies Festival

Oxford Mail:

The 'UK's biggest food festival' will return to Oxford over the bank holiday weekend of August 28, 29, and 30.

Food stalls will set up camp for the three-day fiesta which falls against the backdrop of the picturesque views in South Park.

This year's music headliners are Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Scouting For Girls.

The Big Feastival

Oxford Mail:

Former Blur bassist Alex James has declared that Kingham's Big Feastival will go ahead this year and dates have now been announced.

The 10th anniversary of his three-day party will go ahead from August 27-29.

It will be headlined by Sigala, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man and Nile Rodgers & Chic– who would have been last year’s bill toppers, and have reconfirmed.

Fairport's Cropredy Convention

Oxford Mail:

The folk-rock band Fairport Convention say they are confident their annual music festival at Cropredy will go ahead this summer.

The band are planning to proceed with their Fairport's Cropredy Convention, near Banbury, from August 12-14.

Last year's line-up of acts will be carried forward. Highlights include the Trevor Horn Band, Clannad, Steve Hackett of Genesis, Richard Thompson, Matthews Southern Comfort and Fairport Convention themselves.

Rewind Festival

Oxford Mail:

Rewind organisers are 'confident' that the 80s festival will be staged later this year given their 'audience, artists and crew' will be double vaccinated by the summer.

The event, taking place from August 20-22 at Temple Island Meadows, Henley, will be headlined by Jimmy Somerville's Big Band-tastic Boogie and legend Billy Ocean.
