A LORRY driver died today in a crash which closed the A34 for a time.
The incident happened shortly after 10.30am today when a lorry, travelling north, left the carriageway, about four miles north of the Chieveley junction, near East Ilsley.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "A doctor has confirmed that the lorry driver died at the scene.
"The A34 was shut at the M4 roundabout to enable emergency service teams to investigate the incident and clear the debris.
Just after 4pm today police said the lorry had been recovered.
The police spokesman said: "Traffic in the area around Chieveley is heavy as a result of closures and part-closures of the carriageway throughout the day, but police are confident the situation will improve very soon."
- Drivers on the northbound carriageway of the M40 in north Oxfordshire also suffered delays today after a crash between junction 9 at Wendlebury and junction 10 at Ardley.
