ROADS across Oxfordshire are set to close after local authorities issued temporary traffic orders so that roadworks can take place.

Reasons for the closures include sewer repairs and the installation of fibre optic cables.

These closures are among a series of public notices issued by local authorities across the county.

Sewer repairs: Chapel Street in Cowley closed on Tuesday due to sewer repairs, which are anticipated to be completed by April 12.

The effect of the traffic order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the length of Chapel Street from Cowley Road to Avenue Lane.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The relevant part of the Controlled Parking Zone will be temporarily suspended to open the gate restriction in Collins Street.

Layby improvements: On April 12, work will start to implement a series of improvements at an A-road layby.

The layby at the A40 eastbound near Forest Hill will see a toilet block demolished; vegetation reduced; the cycleway realigned; the filling of potholes, and road markings refreshed.

Because of the mass of work, vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from the layby.

Work is anticipated to be completed by April 23.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Fibre optic cables: The whole length of Market Street in Charlbury has been closed since Tuesday, for what is expected to be a four-week period.

The traffic order was introduced due to fibre optics cable installation work.

Vehicles will be stopped from using Market Street, with appropriate traffic signs displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

The alternative route for traffic is via Thames Street, Nine Acres Lane (B4439), Enstone Road and vice versa.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

Further fibre optics: Fibre optic cables are also being installed in Lamb Lane, Bladon.

Work there started on Wednesday, with it set to take place until April 6.

The installation of the fibre optics cables means traffic will be prohibited from using Lamb Lane.

The alternative route is via Manor Road, A4095 Park Street and vice versa, while appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Drainage pipe works: Park Road in North Leigh will be closed later this month due to drainage pipe works.

From April 22, the work will see the section of Park Road between the A4095 and Bluebell Gardens closed, with work set to be completed by May 7.
