Oxford Homeless Project is appealing for ingredients to fill food hampers for struggling families during Ramadan.
The holy holiday, which is a time for prayer and good deeds, starts on the evening of April 12 and lasts 30 days until sundown on May 11.
Last year the community group handed out over 1,200 itfar meals across the city - meals that are eaten when fasting ends after the sun has gone down.
This year they want to give out core ingredients that can be cooked and will last longer.

These are: basmati rice (2kg, 5kg, 10kg); flour (Atta for chapatis and self raising/plain); sugar; oil; tinned tomatoes; tinned chickpeas; tinned fruit; dates; sweet treats and desserts and other Ramadan treats.
Organiser Shabnam Sabir said: “Ramadan is the month of giving and feeding people.
“Given the struggles of many individuals and families this Ramadan we have decided to make at least 100 hampers to ease the pressures on families.

“After the huge success of the Christmas appeal we would like to reach out to you all to support the Ramadan Appeal by donating either some core ingredients or donating on our fundraising link.”
The hampers will be delivered in a safe way to all families in need irrespective of faith or culture.
Items can be dropped off at East Oxford Community Centre. The group is also looking for volunteers to help make up the hampers or you can donate at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/oxfordhamperproject
