An investigation into what caused a plane to crash in woodland near Oxford was launched this morning.
Air accident investigators have started work in Wytham Great Wood after the plane's wreckage was found just after 8pm last night.
Police said this morning the pilot, a 52-year-old man from Chipping Norton, remained in the John Radcliffe Hospital in a critical condition.
Officers from Thames Valley Police have passed the investigation to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Board.
Oxford University, which owns the woods, said the area would be sealed off over the weekend.
