Boris Johnson announced the ‘road map’ out of lockdown in February where he set out key dates where coronavirus restrictions would be relaxed in England.
Here’s what is changing on March 29:
Social contact
The government say it is safer for people to meet outdoors rather than indoors so on March 29, when most schools start to break up for the Easter holidays, outdoor gatherings (including in private gardens) of either six people or two households will be allowed.
Businesses and activities
Outdoor sports activities will be reopening – like tennis and basketball courts, open-air swimming pools and formally organised outdoor sports like clubs.
Travel
The ‘stay at home’ rule will end on March 29.
The government say people should continue to work from home where they can and minimise the number of journeys they make where possible – like not travelling at rush hour.
Travel abroad will still be stopped unless in exceptional circumstances and holidays will not be allowed.
The government have made a new taskforce to look at global travel which will make a report on April 12.
