The Bishop of Oxford kicked off a tour of Oxford by meeting some of the youngest and oldest residents in Barton.
The Rt Rev John Pritchard began his tour of the Cowley Deanery on Tuesday by sharing tea and toast with children from the breakfast club at Bayards Hill Primary School in Barton. He is pictured there with Luke Lygo, four, and Nicole Norris, eight. He then moved on to Townsend House old people's home in Bayswater Road for coffee with residents.
When the Bishop took up his role in June, he promised to spend a day in every deanery in the diocese during his first nine months in office. Liz Kinch, bursar at Bayards Hill School, said: "It went really well, he had breakfast with the children and they were very at ease."
Nine-year-old pupil Sophie Walsh, of Stowford Road, who was one of the youngsters to meet the Bishop, said: "He was nice. He asked us what we did in the morning and which days we came to the breakfast club. I knew who he was and he seemed friendly."
