AN award-winning Oxfordshire yoga teacher has been helping people to practice yoga at home thanks to an app she launched during the pandemic.

Felicity Wood, from Bicester, launched the Felicity Wood Yoga app in August and since then has had more than 150 people sign up, with people participating in more than 1,300 hours of yoga.

Her mission as a teacher is to make yoga more accessible and easier to incorporate into everyday life, and the app helps to do this with a range of class lengths and styles allowing people to choose the type of yoga that suits them on any given day.

The 39-year-old, who has been teaching for more than seven years, said: “There has been a boom in home yoga during the pandemic - it’s given people routine, a way to move their bodies, alleviate stress and anxiety, and an opportunity to do something for themselves.

“The app combines what a lot of people love about a real life class with other benefits too. Even outside of a pandemic, many people can’t get to physical classes, so the app gives them a chance to make yoga a part of everyday life.

“Yoga works best when you practice more - one class a week is great, but consistency is key. I wanted to create a platform that meant people could easily make time for yoga, and fit in regular breaks throughout the week.”

The app includes 100 classes, with new professionally filmed content added every week. Classes are from five to 70 minutes long and cover a range of styles including gentle yoga, runners, hatha, vinyasa flow, restorative, pregnancy, postnatal, guided meditations and relaxation exercises.
