PICTURES show the damage after strong winds blew off a flat roof in Oxford this morning.
Eight residents living in the flats on the Green Road roundabout had to be rehomed this morning.
Firefighters arrived from Slade Road and Rewley Road stations and police officers closed the Eastern Bypass in both directions.
Taking to Facebook, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue explained how they were able to sort the problem, saying: “Using our Hydraulic Platform firefighters were able to inspect the damage and make it safe by cutting away some of the roof lining.
“Working with our colleagues from Oxford City Council eight residents have been rehoused due to the flats no longer being watertight.
“To keep everyone safe on the nearby Eastern Bypass ring road from falling debris, our colleagues from Thames Valley Police put a road closure in place (which has now been removed) so thank you for your patience if it affected your journey.”
