SEVERAL roads across Oxfordshire will be closed off this month after traffic orders were issued.

Roads will be closed for a variety of reasons, including maintenance work and repairs.

These closures are among a series of public notices issued by local authorities across the county.

Thames Water excavations: Oxfordshire County Council has issued a traffic order, prohibiting traffic in Skippett Lane, Ramsden.

The order came into force on Monday and was introduced due to Thames Water main excavations in Skippett Lane.

These are anticipated to be completed by March 30.

The order will operate between 8am and 5pm.

The effect of the order is to temporarily prohibit through traffic proceeding in Skippett Lane.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for the works, and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic is via High Street and Witney Road, and vice versa.

Maintenance work: A section of the A40 will be closed while carriageway maintenance work takes place.

Cheltenham Road in Burford will see traffic prohibited between Tanners Lane and Burford roundabout (A361).

This order comes into force on March 19, with the work expected to take 10 days to be completed, between the hours of 7.30pm and 5am.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

The alternative route for traffic is via the A361 to Lechlade, A417 towards Cirencester, A429 (Stow Road) and the A40 towards Burford, and vice versa.

Traffic light repairs: Repairs to traffic signals and embankments mean High Street in Clifton Hampden is closed.

The traffic order came into force on Monday, with the work set to be finished on April 5.

Mains works: Thames Water mains reinforcement works will see a section of Wantage Road in Wallingford closed later this month.

From March 22, the works will be taking place, and are are anticipated to last for seven weeks.

The effect of the order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles using a section of Wantage Road east of the junction with Calvin Thomas Way.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

Toucan crossing: Due to ‘continued residential development’ in Didcot, the county council has proposed a toucan crossing for use by pedestrians and cyclists.

The crossing would be adjacent to the A4130 Northern Perimeter Road, approximately 65 metres southeast of the roundabout junction with Avon Way.

All dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.
