World Book Day 2021 has been celebrated by pupils this year, even though many of them will not return to school until Monday.
The annual celebration of stories sees primary school pupils dressed as their favourite characters, including Harry Potter, Matilda and Alice in Wonderland.
It took place today but due to coronavirus restrictions, the majority of pupils were at home and will not return to classes until Monday.
But it has not prevented some youngsters from dressing up and taking part in the annual tradition.

They included Freya Godwin from Slade Nursery School, Freddie Ellaway, from Sutton Courtenay Primary School, and pupils from year 5 at New College School in Oxford who took part in a World Book day-themed zoom call.
Freddie's family said: "Freddie loves learning about ww2 and he wants to be in the army when he's older and is a big fan of Winston Churchill."
The event, organised by the World Book Day charity, has been run differently to take into account restrictions caused by the pandemic.
Every child in full-time education is given a £1 voucher to be spent on books, or can trade in their voucher for one of the specially produced £1 books.

The charity's website said: "World Book Day will continue to work with schools and nurseries to distribute the £1 book tokens.
"We’re working with teachers and nursery leaders to provide the printed token for those children still in a school setting and a new single-use digital version, that can be printed at home or shown to booksellers on a phone."
If you are a school or nursery/pre-school and would like to register for the digital token visit worldbookday.com.
If your school has staged World Book Day events we would like to see your photos.
You can also send your photos to us if your child took part at home this year.
We will then publish the photos in the Oxford Mail and online.
