THE UK’s ‘loneliest degu’ has finally found love after rejections from potential partners.
Three-year-old Greg arrived at the Blue Cross rehoming centre in Burford in November, with his elderly friend, Charlie.
Charlie, however, was sick and in pain due to dental problems that could not be fixed, and unfortunately passed away, leaving Greg on his own.
Despite attempts to find a partner for Greg, he was rejected on two occasions by female degus.

However, it seems as though luck is finally on his side, as he has a new friend – Sophie.
In a post on Facebook, the Blue Cross said: “It seems our quest to find his soulmate paid off after our post was spotted by a family who had recently lost their beloved degu.
“Now, Greg has a new best friend, Sophie.”
Hannah Wiltshire, rehoming manager at Blue Cross Burford, said: “Degus, like many small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs, really don’t cope well on their own.
“We had noticed Greg was very subdued after losing his companion, so we’re delighted to have found him a new love and to see him and Sophie getting on so well together.”
