A COMMUNITY fridge was unable to open last night as it did not have enough food supplies.
Abingdon Community Fridge posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday evening that due to a short supply of surplus food it would be unable to open.
The primary purpose of the community fridge is to help reduce food wastage.
Food is donated to the fridge by supermarkets and larger food waste charities.
A number of families in the area rely on the food bank.

Writing on its Facebook page a spokesperson wrote: "I am afraid the Wednesday curse is back, and we'll be closed tomorrow due to a lack of food."
A photo was attached of a nearly empty fridge that contained a box of eggs, two oranges, one pepper and one aubergine.
The post continued: "On the bright side, the low amount of surplus likely means less food is being over-ordered at the stores."

The community fridge will be open as usual this Saturday as it has some collections scheduled which will bring more supplies.
If you are in urgent need of food before Saturday, Abingdon Community Fridge said to contact their Facebook page via a private message and volunteers will do their best to help you.
