A BEREAVED nine-year-old has launched an online fundraiser with the aim of saving other people’s grandfathers from Covid.
Tomorrow, Jude Harrison from Henley will be turning nine. But this year he is not interested in receiving presents; instead he wants to raise money for NHS Charities Together.
Jude’s grandad Tony Harrison passed away age 84 in the Royal Berkshire Hospital after contracting Covid-19 last Easter.

Now Jude is determined to save other people’s grandads from Covid by raising money for the NHS. His aim was to raise £100, but he has already reached more than £400 with more money to come from family members.
Jude’s mum, Jill Harrison, 42 said: “He was really close to his gramps. Tony was an artist, not professionally but he loved painting and Jude is quite artistic as well and they would go off to the studio together and paint. He was just a lovely grandpa, he always had time for his grandchildren.”
Mr Harrison worked as a graphics designer for advertising campaigns. He had seven grandchildren and lived in Newcastle with his wife Carol for more than 50 years before moving closer to their grandchildren in Henley in 2018.
After seeing other children and families doing fundraisers for the NHS Jude decided he would do the same and now his 10-year-old brother Dan also wants to join in and fundraise.
Ms Harrison said: “He is a special little sole and a kind hearted boy. I’m not sure how he will feel about it on the day when there are not as many presents as usual.”
She added: “It is nice to be able to give something back to the NHS.”
