The ribbon was cut to the brand new £1m Home Bargains store in Faringdon on Saturday by Deputy Leader of Oxfordshire County Council, councillor Judith Heathcoat.

The new store is located next to the existing Waitrose, Aldi and Costa.

A Travelodge hotel which has also been built above the Home Bargains and will be opening shortly.

At the ribbon cutting Councillor Judith Heathcoat was accompanied by Faringdon Town Mayor Dr Mike Wise.

Councillor Judith Heathcoat said: “It’s really exciting to be opening a new Home Bargains, generating new job opportunities and providing an increased retail choice in the Town .

"Faringdon has an unbroken history in providing a central location for villages in the Vale of White Horse to buy provisions and services and the next phase of this development will enhance the Town’s importance.

"I have always wanted to see commerce thrive, spreading prosperity and making Faringdon and its surrounding villages an ever more attractive destination to live and work.”

Coralie Kendall, Home Bargains Faringdon Store Manager said: "My self and my team are extremely excited to be bringing Home Bargains to Faringdon. We have all been waiting for this and cannot wait to meet everyone here on Saturday. The store will offer an amazing range of products at fantastic price.”
