A MAN has been jailed for spitting in a police officer's face.
Tobias Webster appeared in the dock of Oxford Magistrates’ Court on January 22.
The 38-year-old, of Satler Close, Oxford, was charged with assault by beating a woman and common assault of a police officer on November 30.
In the court documents, it said the offences were ‘so serious’ because he made the woman bleed and caused her ‘significant fear’.
It also said his spit landed ‘near the police officer’s eye’ and in the ‘current situation is dangerous’.
The magistrates jailed him for a total of 22 weeks.
He was also ordered to pay £200 in compensation and was made the subject of a restraining order which bans him from going into part of Oxford and contacting the victim until 2024.
