A PRISONER has been jailed for more time after he was caught with a phone.

Andre Griffiths, who is currently serving time at HMP Featherstone, admitted possessing a prohibited article whilst in prison after a trial at Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday.

It comes after officers found a mobile phone in his cell on May 24.

On July 26, 25-year-old Griffiths was also seen dropping a SIM card with data on it showing what he had been using it for.

He was sentenced to four months in prison.

PC Andy Gold of the Prison Crime Team based at Banbury police station said: “Mobile phones can have a significantly detrimental impact on the safe day to day running of prisons, both for other inmates and staff.

“The sentence passed reflects the seriousness of the offence and the position of the Crown Court on these types of matters.”
