COUNCIL buildings across Oxford had flags at half-mast yesterday in memory of Captain Tom.
Yesterday the Union Jack at Oxfordshire County Council offices in the city centre was flying at half-mast to pay tribute to the 100-year-old war veteran who died earlier this week.
Sir Tom Moore raised nearly £33 million for the NHS by walking laps of his garden during the first lockdown in March.
The flags on the Town Hall building on St Aldate's were also lowered.

A spokesperson for Oxfordshire County Council said: “The flags were put to half-mast in memory of Captain Tom Moore who has made such an impression on everyone.”
On the Spotted Witney Facebook page, one resident called for the Town Council to do the same.
They said: "Wouldn't it be nice to see Witney Town Council flying the flag at half-mast in tribute to Captain Tom? Carterton seem to have managed it."
Others said there were tributes in Wantage and at the Chipping Norton war memorial.
