Young Business Person of the Year Winning this prestigious title has been a key to raising the profile of Oliver McGovern's company, MD Construction.
He said: "It has created awareness of who we are in the market place. There have also been occasions where people have approached us as a result of seeing the news in the press.
"We have gained a lot, both in terms of suppliers and in terms of development opportunities."
Mr McGovern, 29, added that the building firm, based near Farmoor, is well ahead of its targets set last year and has successfully launched a new division, MD Homes.
A former apprentice at Rover in Cowley, he started the business from scratch with schoolfriend Stephen Dunne. It now has a turnover of more than £8.5m and employs 28 people.
Mr McGovern added he will be entering the awards again in 2008 in a different category.
